Autolib' – electric cars to hire in Paris

Read a short report and watch a little news report about a new system due to launch in Paris at the end of 2011. People will be able to sign up to a scheme in which they can hire electric cars which could potentially significantly reduce the amount of pollution in Paris if the take-up is good.

Transport and pollution

Excellent article on transport. If you do not have time to read the whole text, start on page 2 under the heading Une heure de mobilité par jour, as this is where the section most relevant to France and Europe starts. From page 4 the question of pollution is addressed, with useful statistics and good explanations. Technical terms highlighted in yellow are explained in boxes to one side of the main article.
