An effective and fun way to get your students to learn, practise and test themselves on 16 common Spanish regular and irregular verbs in the present tense.

These laminated cards will appeal to all learners, and will engage visual and kinaesthetic learners especially. Amusing illustrations, colour coding and clever design help learners to remember the verbs in context and to build up their vocabulary – and all in a wonderfully low-tech way!

How they work

Learners can work with the cards as a whole class, in small groups, in pairs or individually, at their own pace.

First of all they pick a verb card. The teacher reads the sentences on the card aloud and asks them to repeat the sentences several times to develop their confidence and pronunciation (or if they’re working on their own they use the MP3 file). Next they cover the card with the magic red sheet and the conjugated verb magically disappears!

The learners then work with the verb card and magic sheet to memorise the conjugated verbs. They should be encouraged to learn the whole sentence in each case, as not only will they be learning vocabulary, but the context will help to reinforce the conjugated verb in their memory. When they think they have learned the verbs they can test themselves using the magic sheet. They can use it as often as necessary until they have learned the whole verb paradigm. The set comes with a teacher’s guide and learner’s guide which give detailed advice on how to use the cards.
